Mothers across the City of Steinbach and the RM of Hanover are delighted to have their special day accompanied by the intense aroma of manure.
“And a faint hint of feed mill to go along with it,” said local mom Angie Plett. “It’s the combination of aromas that really make this day feel, and smell, special.”
The aroma of manure was so strong this weekend, that families altered their dinner plans so they could take in the smells.
“As soon as I caught a whiff of the outdoors I told my Harry to move everything outdoors,” explained Plett. “We’re dining el fresco this year. The weather’s nice and you just can’t beat the pungent bouquet.”
Harry’s been known to comment “it smells like money” on days like this, but from now on he promises to utter “it smells like Mother’s Day” whenever he drives by a particularly smelly hog barn.
