Larry Norman Updates Song: “Why Doesn’t the Devil Have Any Good Music?”

LOS ANGELES, CA

In 1972, pioneering Christian rock artist Larry Norman posed the question: “Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music?” After viewing the abysmal state of contemporary music at the 2017 Grammy Awards, Norman, speaking to reporters from his heavenly abode, now wonders what happened to all this ‘good music’ he spoke about forty years ago.

“Wow, I had no idea it could get this bad,” said Norman, who passed away in 2008. “Kelly Clarkson? Justin Bieber? Katy Perry? Nickelback? If I had known the Devil could make such awful music I would never have written that song.”

At the time of the song’s recording it was Christian music that had room for improvement, but now even the “devil’s music” is complete garbage.

“In those days, there was Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin,” said Norman. “You know, like, actual music. These days, however, the Devil seems to be slacking off big time.”

The Grammy Awards watching party ended abruptly when Larry Norman turned to Elvis Presley, Woody Guthrie, and Mahalia Jackson and said, “I’m sure we can do better.” They then shut off the television and played music the way it’s supposed to be played.
