Winnipeg Woman Denied Entry to Folk Festival for Failing to Wear Blundstones

WINNIPEG, MB

Area woman Samantha Kroeker, 38, was really looking forward to seeing Mavis Staples at Folk Fest this evening, but had to go back to Altona with her tail between her legs after she forgot to wear her Blundstones.

“I thought Birks would do the trick, but it turns out they have a strict Blundstone policy,” said Kroeker. “I guess I learned y lesson the hard way. Always read the fine print.”

Kroeker says her backpack was carefully inspected at the gate to make sure she didn’t have any contraband items.

“But all they said after rifling through my Patagonia is ‘I’m afraid we can’t let you in here without your Blundstones,'” she explained. “I guess my camping chair and bandana wasn’t enough to pass the test.”

Kroeker says she’s disappointed she won’t get to see soul legend Mavis Staples, but not all is lost.

“Looks like I saved myself a couple bucks,” said Kroeker. “I’ll just go sit and listen with all the other frugal Mennonites right outside the concert gates.”
