Dill Harvest Early this Year

SWIFT CURRENT, SK

After a nice stretch of warm weather and a lot of rain, the Swift Current dill harvest is already upon us.

“It’s early this year, but that just means the pickles will be extra dilly,” said Mrs. Loewen. “We’ve already got the boys out there with the threshing machines hauling in all the dill.”

Fields across the region are already spotted with mounds of cut dill that’s just waiting to be dried and formed into bales.

“The dill harvest is earlier and earlier every year,” said Mrs. Loewen. “I guess it’s just a sign of global warming.”

Unfortunately for Loewen, the cucumbers are not yet ready for harvest, which means she’ll have to throw all the harvested dill into a pot of komst borscht and call it a day.
