CUAUHTEMOC, MEXICO
Thousands of Canadians have decided to vacation in Mexico this summer to escape the oppressive heat of Canada.
“Ahhh, it’ll be so nice to get out of Winnipeg for once during the summer months,” said area man Gary Thiessen. “It’s like they always say – Winnipeg is lovely in winter, but you don’t want to come here in summer.”
The Thiessens will be spending their vacation in Chihuahua, Mexico, where they plan to kick back and enjoy the more reasonable temperatures.
“I love living in Canada, but the summers are a bit hard to handle,” said Thiessen. “If it’s not the heat, it’s the mosquitos.”
The Thiessens will be boarding a new seasonal WestJet flight direct to the more temperate climate of Chihuahua.
“It’s just south of Texas, so you know it’s gotta be more bearable weather than Manitoba in July,” said Thiessen.
The millions of Canadian seniors heading for Mexico in summer will now be known as Sunbirds.
