WINNIPEG, MB
First time trick-or-treaters Pete and Linda Siemens of North Kildonan had heard you were supposed to dress as something really really scary for Halloween.
“So, naturally, we dressed as the scariest creature in the whole country: Canada Geese,” said Linda. “I mean have you ever got within 20 feet of one of them on the golf course? Those things are nasty.”
Pete had no difficulty with the bottom half of the costume, but the long skinny neck did present some difficulties.
“I told him to lay off the vereniki for a week or so before October 31,” explained Linda. “Then he just managed to squeeze in there. Even had him work on flapping his wings and getting that hissing sound just right.”
The Siemenses’ costumes were so convincing that Mrs. Brandt was seen swatting at them with a broom as they approached the house.
“But, I mean, she does that with everyone at Halloween,” said Linda. “I was just surprised she didn’t turn off the lights and lock the door.”
The Siemenses are so committed to getting this authentic, that they plan walk up and down Henderson Highway this evening and leave their own little treats on every yard.
