Days after announcing his retirement from hockey, Winnipeg Jets superstar Jonathan Toews made sure to get his name on the waiting list at Fernwood Place in Steinbach.
“You can’t leave it until the last minute,” said Toews. “If you want to get into Fernwood, you’ve gotta act swiftly.”
Fernwood Place offers comfortable one and two bedroom apartments for independent seniors.
“Plus, there’s shuffleboard,” said Toews. “Although, I much prefer kjnipsbrat. And just look at that multi-purpose room. As soon as I move in, I’m going to book the room for the Toews Christmas gathering.”
Toews also appreciates that the seniors home overlooks both the tennis courts and the MB church.
“Of course, they’re mostly playing pickleball there these days, but at least it’s entertainment,” said Toews. “And I’m really looking forward to those MB faspas.”
Just in case Toews can’t get in a Fernwood, he’s also put his name in at Woodhaven.
