Mennonite Woman Delighted to Receive Slightly Used Nobel Peace Prize

CORN, OK

Area woman Susie Driedger, 73, was delighted to receive a slightly used Nobel Peace Prize this week, which she plans to shred into pieces and use as a Brillo pad.

“It has hardly a scratch on it,” said Driedger. “Looks like the previous owner never even used it.”

Driedger says she received the prize during a swap meet at the local Mennonite church.

“I came with a garbage bag full of floral-patterned blouses and came home with a Nobel Peace Prize,” said Driedger. “Who knew it was that easy to get one.”

The Nobel committee reminded folks that they can’t just give their Peace Prizes away, but said, in this case, they’d make an exception.

“Mrs. Driedger seems like a pretty nice woman,” said Nobel committee chair Jorgen Frydnes. “And peaceful, too. You should see how she handled that rivalry between the Wiebes and Klassens over the ownership of the front row church pew.”

In addition to the medallion, the prize also came with a coupon for a Big Mac and a box full or orange spray tan.
