Mennonite Man is Just About Ready to Start His Christmas Shopping

WINKLER, MB

Area man Dave Wiens figured he was just about ready to start Christmas shopping and so decided to venture out to the mall in Vanapag this morning.

“I know a lot of my friends who put off shopping until the last minute,” said Wiens. “But not me. I’m getting to the mall well before noon on Christmas Eve.”

Wiens says he loves the calm quiet atmosphere of the mall on the day before Christmas.

“I’m just hoping that McNally Robinson won’t be sold out of those Andrew Unger books,” said Wiens. “If so, then it looks like everyone on my list will just be getting second hand copies of Martyrs Mirror again this year.”

While Wiens calmly shops with plenty of time to spare before the mall closes, his wife Doris is in a panic for some strange reason.

“I’m not sure what’s going on with Doris,” said Wiens. “I think she’s already working on next year’s gifts.”

Wiens encourages everyone to get their shopping done early, just like he does, saying it gives him time to sit back, relax, and let Doris prepare his Christmas dinner.
