Atteendees at a Kansas Mennonite church potluck were disappointed this week after rock superstar Bruce Springsteen showed up with a plumi moos that was a “touch on the dry side.”
“I get it. He probably doesn’t have much time to cook,” said Mrs. Martens. “But when a celebrity like that shows up at your potluck, well, I guess I was expecting something a little more than a few dried out prunes in a Tupperware container.”
The Springsteen Plumi Moos placed dead last in the Goessel Plumi Moos competition, although some say that’s largely due to the competition.
“It’s either Mrs. Fehr or Mrs. Janzen year after year,” explained Mrs. Martens. “So a newcomer really doesn’t stand a chance.”
To make up for this rather dry plumi moos, Springsteen hauled out his guitar and gave a quick three-hour concert for the good folks in Goessel.
“I don’t want to sound conspiratorial,” said Mrs. Martens, “but I think there was only one judge on the panel this year and he didn’t even sample the plumi moos before rendering his verdict.”
Leftovers of the overly dry plumi moos will be served to the teens at youth this Friday evening.
