Desperate to Woo Trudeau Supporters, Maxime Bernier Renames New Party ‘The Peoplekind Party of Canada’

GATINEAU, QC

Eager to move up a bit in the polls, sixth-place Maxime Bernier has decided a little tweaking of his party name just might do the trick.

“I can’t figure it out. For some reason, The People’s Party of Canada hasn’t seemed to get much traction,” explained Bernier. “I thought perhaps a name change might broaden my base.”

Although most of Bernier’s meagre support has come from more right-of-centre camps, he felt that he might be able to snag a few Trudeau supporters if he called it ‘The Peoplekind Party.’

“When you’re at 2.5% you’ll try anything,” said Bernier. “I might even fire a few competent cabinet ministers if it helps improve my chances.”

The Peoplekind Party of Canada has already erected huge billboards explaining precisely, who, counts as “people” in their rather narrow vision of Canada.

“I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea about our inclusiveness or something,” said Bernier. “It’s just a name.”

Recent polls indicate that no party is likely to win over 50% of the seats in the House of Commons. When Bernier heard of this thing called a “minority” government he said he didn’t like the sound of that either.
