HARRISONBURG, VA
The new FIFA “Peace Prize” was apparently so meaningful to its recipient that it’s already been discarded and discovered amongst all the useless chotskies at the local thrift store.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes. There I was looking for souvenir teaspoons and old wooden plaques with German Bible verses and what did I find? A FIFA Peace Prize,” said discoverer Anne Miller. “And the remarkable thing is that it looked completely unused. It was even still in the shrink wrap.”
Miller paid a whopping 37 cents for the trophy, but says she got a discount since it was a Tuesday.
“I’m not paying full price for such a hunk of junk,” said Miller. “You know it’s going to wind up as a paperweight anyway.”
The FIFA committee was initially shocked at the discovery, but says it’s not really such a big deal.
“That’s where we purchased the trophy in the first place.”
The donor was apparently not even given a donation receipt as the trophy had exactly zero value.
