YARROW, BC
There was a buzz in the church lobby at South Yarrow MB this week after the province announced there would be permanent daylight savings.
“Oba, I expect savings during at an MCC bag sale now and then,” said Mrs. Anne Driedger, “but savings anytime there’s daylight yet? Will wonders never cease.”
The announcement was met with much rejoicing throughout the province’s Mennonite community, who can never turn down a good savings.
“From sunrise to sunset there’ll be savings,” said Mrs. Driedger. “This is almost as good as back home in Manitoba at the Eaton’s basement.”
Some, however, are a little worried about these permanent savings.
“Who’s going to come to my garage sales anymore?” said Mrs. Loewen. “I guess I’ll have to schedule them for the middle of the night when these daylight savings do not apply.”
So far the only other province to make this change is Saskatchewan.
“I never thought we’d have anything in common with those guys out east,” said Mr. Epp. “But, you know, I guess good things happen when you elect a Mennonite as premier.”
Manitoba is also considering making this change if only they can convince Kelvin Goertzen to come out of retirement.
