Mennonites Refuse to Watch ‘Worldly Series’

ST. JACOBS, ON

Thousands of Mennonites in southern Ontario have refused to join in on the festivities this evening after local pastors preached vehemently against the ‘Worldly Series’s this past Sunday.

“I don’t know what goes on there in Toronto,” said Mr. Eby of St. Jacobs, “but it sounds awfully worldly to me.”

The Mennonite boycott spread far and wide, reaching as far as Leamington, where pastors preached against the ‘Weltlijch Series.’

“They’re basically rubbing it in our faces,” said Pastor David. “Not only do they play a game on Reformation Day, but then they have the audacity to keep our people up late on a Saturday when they should be preparing for the Sunday service. Obay nay!”

Several Mennonite boys were caught listening to the Weltlijch Series on the radio this evening and are expected to report to Pastor David first thing in the morning yet.

“Next thing you know they’ll be watching the Maple Leafs,” said Pastor David. “Or marrying a Lutheran.”

If the Blue Jays win the World Series, Pastor David vows to move straight to Mexico where we can concentrate on the Bible and upcoming World Cup.
