Area man Brad Wiebe, 31, has an amazing new plan to finally be rid of his 50-year mortgage – waiting patiently to die.
“That’s the dream, right. You always want to see your mortgage grow old and outlive you,” said Wiebe. “It’s the cycle of life. You get married, get a mortgage, and one day your mortgage gets married and has little mortgages of its own.”
Wiebe says he’s very much looking forward to seeing his grand-mortgages play in the backyard someday.
“I just hope I live long enough to see those little mortgages grow into adulthood,” said Wiebe with a tear in his eye. “I figure if I tack on a couple new sets of shingles over the years, I can extend that mortgage to 60 maybe 70 years, if I’m lucky.”
Wiebe encourages new homebuyers to get on that 50-year mortgage as soon as possible so they, too, can nurture and grow that mortgage into maturity without the hardship of ever really paying it off.
