Massive Simon Hildebrandt Statue Appears Outside MBCI

WINNIPEG, MB

Just hours after hitting the championship-winning three-pointer for the Winnipeg Sea Bears this weekend, a massive 50 foot fall bronze statue of Simon Hildebrandt appeared outside his alma matter, Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute.

“I’ve never seen such a quick fundraising campaign,” said Sea Bears superfan Helen Dueck. “But we had the funds and statue all ready to go by the end of the afternoon.”

Hildebrandt led the Sea Bear to their first ever CEBL championship and proved that Mennonites are good at sports other than just ice hockey and long track speed skating.

“It was an impressive display,” said Mrs. Dueck. “I’m certain all those years of shooting twenties on the knipsbrat board really paid off.”

Hildebrandt secured the victory with a three-pointer in the dying minutes of the game.

“I’ve never witnessed something like that in my life,” said Mrs. Dueck. “A Mennonite shooting a three-pointer? I mean, as an MBer, I’m really surprised he didn’t go for the dunk.”

The statue will officially be unveiled this Sunday afternoon followed by faspa and hymn singing.
