ABBOTSFORD, BC
Local couple Diane and Pete Kroeker decided they’d go for some authentic Mennonite food this evening, so naturally they went to their favourite Indian restaurant.
“What were you expecting? Vereniki and schmaunt fat?” wondered Diane. “Now, Pete, you know there’s more Mennonites in India than in Canada.”
Pete was baffled by the flavourful food, after decades of more bland Eastern European cuisine.
“Oba, Diane, we’ve got to go for authentic Mennonite food more often,” said Pete. “Strange. Why wasn’t this dal makhani in the Mennonite Treasury Cookbook?”
Next weekend, the couple plans to try even more authentic Mennonite food at their local Ethiopian restaurant.
