Untimely Victory Throws Jets Off Pace of Being Just as Pathetic as Vancouver by Christmas

WINNIPEG, MB

A shocking 5-1 win over Washington last night has really put a damper on the Winnipeg Jets’ plan of being at least as bad as Vancouver by Christmas.

“We’re going to have to try harder,” said Jets captain Adam Lowry. “I know we can do better. We’ve got to lift the spirits of all those lowly Canucks fans.”

Canucks fans were really hoping that it wouldn’t be long before they’d no longer be the most pathetic team in the league.

“It would such a pleasant gift this Christmas,” said Dave Klassen of Chilliwack. “We just need one team, any team, to drop below us in the standings. I was really rooting for the Jets.”

It’s not yet know how the return of Jets’ goalie Connor Hellebuyck will impact the Cancucks’ chances of finishing second last in the league.

“We’re going to try really hard to show that we can lose games with him, too,” said Lowry. “We’ll do everything we can to make this Christmas as special one for Canucks fans everywhere.”
