Lottery Winner Given Rare Box of Christmas Oranges That Aren’t Stale or Rotten

ALTONA, MB

A small ceremony was held at the Altona Co-op this afternoon where Mrs. Neufeld was awarded a box of non-rotten and non-stale Christmas origins.

“Wow, did you see that?” said Mrs. Kroeker, completely jealous of her friend. “That collection of oranges should be a museums, but knowing Mrs. Neufeld, she’ll probably eat them all herself.”

Finding Christmas oranges that actually taste good is a difficult task these days, so for lottery winner Mrs. Neufeld it’s a valuable prize.

“I’ve been in the grocery store many times looking for good quality oranges and am disappointed every time,” said Mrs. Neufeld. “They usually taste like they’ve been on the back of a shipping container for 6 months.”

The prize is estimated to be worth $1.3 million, but Mrs. Neufeld says her new winnings change nothing for her.

“I’m not going to quit my job or leave Altona for the city,” said Mrs. Neufeld. “We’ll live like we always have, just with a sweet succulent orange on occasion.”

The prize has already created some trouble for Mrs. Neufeld as long lost relatives have come out of the woodwork to get their hands on some of those oranges.

“I’m a generous woman, but even I have my limits,” said Mrs. Neufeld. “I don’t have enough oranges for every Neufeld cousin who wants one. Sorry not sorry.”

The non-rotten orange will be on display under tight security at the Altona Mennonite Church this Sunday before being handed over to Mrs. Neufeld after the service.
