STEINBACH, MB
The prayers of Omas and Opas across Steinbach were finally answered this week as all the remaining folks who had yet to be baptized were greeted with a deluge.
“I was hoping to get baptized in the tank this fall,” said 28-year-old Mike Penner. “I never would have thought it would happen in the middle of the night while I was crashed on the couch in the basement.”
The flooding has already created tensions between local congregations.
“We knew some of those folks had only been poured … or, worse yet, sprinkled,” said Mr. Fast. “I guess they finally got their dunking.”
Despite the fact that everyone has now been dunked, Mr. Fast says it sill doesn’t count and not everyone will be allowed to take communion at his church.
Meanwhile, the City of Steinbach has assured residents that this mass baptism was not deliberate and will do everything they can to avoid baptizing everyone again next fall.
