MOUNTAIN LAKE, MN
Mrs. Erin Janzen of Mountain Lake has finally begun to take down last year’s Christmas cards just as soon as the first batch of new ones have arrived.
“It’s a painful decision, but it had to be done,” said Janzen. “When I saw my stuffed mailbox at church I knew it was over for Christmas ‘24 cards.”
Janzen began carefully taking down all the cards from the Loewens, Kliewers, Groenings, and Froeses.
“But the hardest for me was taking down the Klippenstein’s card,” said Janzen. “I think that one’s been up there 2 Christmases already.”
Erin’s husband Karl says he’s relieved to see the cards finally go.
“The refrigerator door is a lot more mobile,” said Karl. “It swings much more freely. At least until it’s filled up with this year’s cards.”
Meanwhile, Mrs. Janzen is also contemplating taking down more than 20-years-worth of missionary prayer cards from the bulletin board, at least for those who’ve come home on furlough.
