Area farmer Sid Sawatzky has appeared in a really provocative ad for American Eagle this well. The ad features Sawatzky knacking zoat while sitting in a lawn chair with the barn door up.
“My Susie always said I had great jeans,” says Sawatzky. “She would know. She makes them from leftover scrap of denim she gets at the thrift store.”
Some, however, have found the commercial offensive, saying it contains hidden messages.
“Are they trying to say Sawatzky jeans are the best,” said Mrs. Banman. “I’m related to some Sawatzkys on my mother’s side and, let me tell you, there are more than few issues with their jeans.”
The ad has also been criticized for being too sexy, some that Mr. Sawatzky denies.
“If you find a couple Mennonite guys in overalls and crap on their boots sexy, well, that’s your own fault,” said Mr. Sawatzky. “You really need to get out more. And by out I mean going to Omaha on occasion.”
The most controversial photo in the ad campaign features Sawatzky with the top button of his shirt undone and a few strands of hair peeking out. Signed 8x10s will be available after faspa this Sunday.
