Andrew Unger Gifted Secondhand Nobel Prize for Literature

SAUK CENTRE, MN

Humorist Andrew Unger drove down to Sauk Centre, Minnesota this afternoon where he was presented with the Nobel Prize for Literature originally given to the great Sinclair Lewis.

“It’s such an honour,” said Unger. “You know those Swedes should have given it to me in the first place. I’ve written 2 plus books. You really should get a Nobel Prize for every book you write.”

Sinclair Lewis was the author of such classics as Babbit, Elmer Gantry, and Main Street, while Unger writes funny stuff about Mennonites.

“So naturally I should get the prize,” said Unger. “The fact it’s secondhand makes it even more of an honour if you think about it.”

The Nobel committee issued a statement saying that the prize cannot be regifted and that Unger would have to win a Nobel Prize on his own merit.

In retaliation for not winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, Unger plans to annex Legoland in Denmark.
