Hutterite Colony Team to Join NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off

BAKER COLONY, MB

After dominating play throughout southern Manitoba in recent years, a Hutterite women’s hockey team has signed on as a last minute addition to the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off.

“We’re calling it 5 Nations now,” said Commissioner Gary Bettman. “Finland, Sweden, Canada, USA, and Baker Colony.”

The team is especially strong on the forecheck, which may become a challenge for the NHL’s elite players.

“We didn’t want to see a decline in competition just because a few countries have been banned from playing,” said Bettman. “So to keep things at a top level, naturally we brought in the Hutterites.”

Canadian captain Sydney Crosby says he’s looking forward to playing Baker Colony later this week.

“You know, I think we’ll have no trouble with the Americans,” said Crosby. “But I’m losing a bit of sleep over those Hutterite women.”
