WINNIPEG, MB
Construction crews have been really busy this summer putting up pylons on Manitoba highways.
“Yeah, we’re hoping to put up caution signs and pylons on every road in southern Manitoba by the end of summer,” said road worker Jason Kroeker. “Then we’ll come pick them all up around November sometime.”
The pylons are essential to let drivers know that absolutely no work will be done, nor will any workers be present on that stretch of road for the next few months.
“I mean, quite frankly, we might leave some of them out there until next year,” said Kroeker. “Maybe even the year after that.”
Pylon season lasts from June to September each year in Manitoba, which also just happens to generate 98% of the annual budget for local law enforcement.
