B.M. Friesen and Sons Electrical to Rebrand

ROSENORT, MB

Since the early days of the rural electrification program in Manitoba, B.M. Friesen and Sons has been a household name in the Scratching River settlement. Now, however, the company has decided to rebrand.

“My grand-father Bernhard Martens Friesen started this company in 1951,” said current B.M. Friesen owner I.B.S. Friesen. “But, you know, it was time for a change.”

Over the decades, whenever Rosenorters needed a bulb changed or a ballast fixed, they’d give the B.M. boys a call.

“It got confusing, since everyone thought were were plumbers,” said I.B.S. Friesen. “We considered a few names: I.B.S. Friesen and Brothers, I.P. Friesen and Pals, I.C.U. Friesen Incorporated and J.R.R. Tolkien Electrical. Ultimately we decided to just go with Sparkies R Us.”

There will be no change in service for customers, though Friesen said he’ll be happy to not having to unclog so many toilets.
