Mountain Lake Residents Still Looking for that “Mountain”

MOUNTAIN LAKE, MN

Residents of the flattest town in USA have been searching all over town for centuries trying to locate the mountain that gave the town it’s name.

“Well, there’s a bit of a rise on the Friesen yard,” said Mr. Penner, “but that’s only because he hasn’t landscaped properly. There’s also usually a bit of a mound on the Dueck’s yard in winter or anytime the leaves fall.”

Not only have residents been unable to find the mountain, they’re all in search of this so-called lake.

“Quite frankly, I have no idea why this town is named that,” said Mr. Penner. “I think maybe it was a mistranslation from Plautdietsch or something.”

The town is considering renaming itself to something more accurate like Land of Mennonites and Flat Earth or See, We Fooled You Just Like Greenland.
