Mennonite Pastor Hired for Wife’s Ability to Play the Piano

SWIFT CURRENT, SK

The local church has just hired a new pianist with the added bonus that her husband is willing to be the pastor on Sundays.

“You know, when we were looking for a new pianists a lot of qualifications come to mind, but top on the list is her husband’s ability to preach,” said pastoral search committee member Doris Pankratz. “She may not be the best pianist, but I figure it’s kind of two-for-one deal. We hire a pianist and get a free pastor to boot.”

The new head pianist is Mrs. Abraham Neufeld, which automatically makes Mr. Abraham Neufeld an ordained reverend and head of the church.

“We’ve been looking for a new pianist for quite some time,” said Mrs. Pankratz. “I’m so glad to see that the Lord has answered our prayers and brought this talented couple to our church.”

Mrs. Abraham Neufeld will receive a salary of $35,000 a year, while Abe is expected to preach 3 out of every 4 Sundays on a “volunteer basis.”

“We’re also looking for a new full time organist,” said Mrs. Pankratz. “So if anyone knows someone who plays the organ and whose husband is willing to be Youth Pastor, then please let us know.”
