OTTAWA, ON
After months of finagling, it looks like Prime Minister Mark Carney is just one MP resignation from his goal of giving the Canadian public what the voted for in the first place.
“It’s been a lot of work. There have been a lot of back door meetings,” said Carney, “but it looks like we’ll finally be getting that minority government the people wanted.”
If Carney’s plans are successful, his environmental policy will disgust just enough of his own MPs that the Liberals will finally drop below the threshold needed for a resounding minority.
“It’s pretty unprecedented,” said Carney. “But you know, fingers crossed we’ll be in minority territory in no time.”
Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, however, has plans of his own.
“I can’t let Carney get the minority he wants,” said Poilievre, “so I’m trying to convince a few more of my MPs to cross over. So far Ted Falk won’t budge.”
