Winkler to Set Clocks One Hour Ahead of Morden

WINKLER, MB

When the Province announced that Manitobans would no longer be participating in the time change, the City of Winkler pounced on the opportunity to distinguish itself from neighbouring Morden.

“We’re establishing a Winkler Standard Time,” said local man Tim Wiens. “I mean everyone knows those Mordeners are a little late for things anyways.”

According to its proponents, the new Winkler time zone has several other advantages.

“We’ll get to Chicken Chef after church a full hour before those Mordeners,” said area man Tim Wiens. “Not to mention getting a head start on those MCC bag sales.”

Starting November 1st, travellers coming into Winkler from the west will have to change their clocks as soon as they pass the Co-op cardlock.

Not to be outdone, the City of Steinbach announced they’d be permanently turning back clocks a full century.
