WINNIPEG, MB
We may not have heard from him for quite a while, but Toews laced up his skates again last night, this time for his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
“Yeah, well, I figured I could use the exercise,” said Toews. “Being a judge is kind of sedentary you know.”
We last heard from Toews over a decade ago when he was MP for Provencher.
“It’s not exactly the same career,” said Toews, “but I’m always up for a challenge.”
Given his political background, Toews was immediately given an assistant captain position.
“I think my skills are more in the locker room than on the ice,” said Toews. “But who knows, I might even be able to contribute a little on the penalty kill.”
Toews is expected to play on the Jets second line, until such time as Miriam is called up from the minors.
