Mennonite Man Takes 5 Hours to Pass Semi

MOOSOMIN, SK

Area man Bob Sawatzky took just 5 hours to pass a semi on the highway this week, the fastest time ever recorded by a Mennonite.

“I figured he was going 100,” said Bob, “so I set my cruise at 100 and a bit, and got into the passing lane.”

Bob planned to pass the semi truck by the time he reached Regina, but he was pleasantly surprised that it was actually somewhere near Moosomin.

“There were dozens of cars backed up behind me,” said Bob, “but that’s just the price you have to pay for such safe driving.”

The truck driver said he really appreciated Bob being in his blind spot for only 5 hours.

“It’s drivers like Bob that really make this job worthwhile,” said driver Sam Unrau. “You know, most Mennonites take until Medicine Hat or something to pass me. But not Bob here. He’s a real pro.”

Bob Sawatzky hopes to drive side-by-side with a semi for at least another 5 hours on the return trip.
