McGill Cuts Beloved Crokinole Team

MONTREAL, QC

McGill University has freed up more than $6 billion in budget space after cutting the beloved but expensive crokinole team.

“Players kept flicking the pieces all over the place and losing them,” said head of McGill athletics department Yvette LaFriesen. “We just couldn’t justify how much we were spending on flickers each year.”

The crokinole team is just one of many cuts the university is making.

“Gone also are the staring contest and thumb wars teams,” said LaFriesen. “These are tough times and something’s got to give.”

The loss of the crokinole team hit hard especially for star athlete Billy Krahn of La Crete, Alberta who was at McGill on a full ride crokinole scholarship.

“I guess I’ll have to go home to northern Alberta,” said Krahn. “Either that or stay on and try to make the pichonette team.”

Rumour has it this whole thing was a set up by Krahn’s parents to prevent their son from staying in Quebec and marrying a Catholic.
