Pastor Dave of South Leamington Mennonite Church is gearing up for his longest sermon yet this upcoming Sunday.
“You can’t say I didn’t warn you,” said Pastor Dave, “but those Blue Jays are such an inspiration.”
Even though they didn’t come away with a victory, their valiant effort is something every good Mennonite should strive for, according to Pastor Dave.
“I press toward the mark for the prize,” said Pastor Dave, “and I’m fully expecting everyone at South Leamington to press on with me through my 5-hour long sermon.”
South Leamingtoners have already resigned themselves to the fact they’re not going to beat the Lutherans to the Mexican restaurant after the service.
“Just look at what we’re willing to suffer,” said church member Marty Driedger. “Besides, we’re all Detroit Tigers fans around here.”
Pastor Dave intends to ramble on for several hours without making a point, then finally end it all in dramatic fashion at the last minute.
