Residents of Saskatchewan have voted overwhelmingly this week to legalize potash dispensaries across the province.
“We’ve gotta do something to keep up with Belarus,” said Regina resident Barry Broesky. “I’m sure with all these potash dispensaries opening up, we’ll have hundreds of American farmers coming up here in no time.”
First in line to get his hands on some fresh Saskatchewan potash was farmer Pete Olson of North Dakota.
“Looks like they just sell it out in the open here,” said Olson, as he pulled up his truck to the potash stand on Victoria Avenue. “I think I’ll sample the product first, though, before loading up the truck.”
Olson admits he’d been up here before, but previously he’d always had to resort to buying dime bags of potash from a guy in an alley downtown.
“But now the potash is everywhere,” said Olson. “I just hope they have my favourite strain in stock.”
While potash is legal in most of Saskatchewan, the city of Swift Current voted 62% against allowing potash sales within city limits.
