City Turns Every Available Flat Surface into Pickleball Courts

CALGARY, AB

The City of Calgary has recently unveiled a new plan to turn every bit of flat surface area in the city into pickleball courts.

“Church parking lots, private driveways, significant stretches of Deerfoot Trail–you name it, pickleball’s got it,” said city mayor Jyoti Gondek. “We’re hoping the new plan will increase our senior citizen population by 2000%, not to mention a dramatic increase in middle-aged men not fit enough to play tennis.”

Calgarians are very supportive of the idea, saying all the pickleball courts will make up for the fact they’re never going to host the Olympics again.

“Well, maybe the pickleball Olympics,” said area resident Jeremy Goerzen. “Hey, I’m even willing to give up the chicken coop in my backyard to make this happen.”

Meanwhile, folks in Edmonton are hatching a plan to convert all empty lots into practice rinks for the Oilers.
